Heyyo minna, it’s Ryuuji Tatsuya!
Welcome to the third day of the ‘A Fortnight of Shoujo Challenge’ thread! When I was debating as to whether or not I should attempt this challenge, it was the third day’s question which gained my interest and made me seal the deal.
LEAST FAVORITE SHOUJO TREND:
If I’m not mistaken, here the word ‘Trend’ surely means the clichés that takes place in these series; and we all know who loves talking about clichés XD. So without any further delay, let’s get right into it!
Now, I have written quite a few posts regarding anime clichés; one also dealing with the romantic genre. While I really adore romance, comedy, SoL and Shoujo genre, it would be wrong to say that some of its major clichés don’t bore/infuriates me.
First off, The High School Setting. Even though it’s true that these kinda plots are not always bad since high school memories are really precious. But there is a reason why many anime viewers think that anime has lost its charm, or is losing it slowly; the high school only setting is the reason why. We would love to see some series which is not dedicated to the shining days of youth; so please stop forcefully dragging it into every story possible.
Next cliché which starting to get unbearable for me is The Doki Doki Phase. Almost every romance anime that falls under the shoujo category has this one phase where one of the two main characters realise that he/she has fallen for the other. Great! So now maybe he/she will confess, right? HELL NO! Now there will be random moments where everything turns sparkling, cinematic moments, heartwarming speeches, a small misunderstanding, doki doki moments, doki doki moments and MORE DOKI DOKI MOMENTS!!! Just…. Why??
*Sigh* Now before I start ranting and turn this post into another cliché rant, I’ll be applying the brakes! So guys, is there any shoujo trend that you don’t like too? Be sure to share that in the comments below! Until the next post, I hope you guys have a great time and, as usual, thanks for reading!
Don’t tell the cops….
